An Act To Increase Railroad Freight Safety

Sec. 1. 23 MRSA §7015  is enacted to read:

§ 7015.  Freight train crew size

A railroad company shall ensure that there are at least 2 employees on a freight train traveling on a railroad line, as defined in section 7152, subsection 3, within the State, except for a freight train traveling for hostler service. A railroad company that violates this section is subject to a fine of not more than $500 for each violation of this section.
