An Act To Provide Career and Technical Training Options for Electricians
Sec. 1. 32 MRSA §1202-A, sub-§3, ¶B, as enacted by PL 2017, c. 198, §17, is amended to read:
(1) Completed at least 2,000 work hours in the field of electrical installations as a licensed helper electrician under the direct supervision of a master electrician, journeyman electrician or limited electrician; graduated from an accredited community college electrical program or a vocational-electrical program of a state department of corrections or completed a career and technical electrical education program approved pursuant to Title 20-A, section 8306-B as a secondary student; and completed a course of 45 hours in the current National Electrical Code; or
(2) Comparable work experience or education or training, or a combination of work experience, education and training, completed within the State or outside the State, that is acceptable to the board.

This bill allows the Electricians' Examining Board to accept satisfactory evidence of completion of a career and technical electrical education program approved pursuant to the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 20-A, section 8306-B as a secondary student when issuing a journeyman-in-training electrician license.
