An Act To Improve Oral Health and Access to Dental Care for Maine Children
Sec. 1. Report on preventive oral health services. The Department of Health and Human Services shall report on the status of the expansion of preventive oral health services provided in schools pursuant to this Act through the Department of Health and Human Services, Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, rural health and primary care division's oral health program, including the number of schools and children served and the results of those services, which populations and geographic areas are not being covered by the services provided by the program and whether additional funding is needed. The department shall submit an interim report to the Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services no later than September 30, 2020 and a final report, including recommendations for funding or improvements to the program, no later than December 15, 2020 to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over oral health matters, which may report out legislation to the First Regular Session of the 130th Legislature based on the report.
Sec. 2. Appropriations and allocations. The following appropriations and allocations are made.

Initiative: Provides funding for one Oral Health Coordinator position in the oral health program within the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, rural health and primary care division to lead the State's public health functions related to oral health.

This bill establishes within the Department of Health and Human Services one Oral Health Coordinator position in the oral health program within the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, rural health and primary care division to lead the State's work on oral health; one Planning and Research Associate II position in the rural health and primary care division within the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention tasked with data analysis, performance management reporting and program planning and evaluation; and one Early Periodic Screening Diagnosis and Treatment Dental Coordinator position in the Office of MaineCare Services.
