‘Resolve, Directing the Department of Education To Review Instruction in the History of Genocide’
Amend the bill by striking out everything after the title and inserting the following:
‘Sec. 1. Review. Resolved: That the Commissioner of Education shall expedite the consideration of the instruction in the history of genocide, including the Holocaust, in the next review of the content standards and performance indicators for the content area of social studies under the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 20-A, section 6209, subsection 4. The commissioner also shall develop resources relating to instruction in the history of genocide, including the Holocaust, and make them readily available on the Department of Education's publicly accessible website. For purposes of this section, "Holocaust" is the program of discriminatory and genocidal laws, policies or actions targeted against discrete groups of individuals based on race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical disability or national origin, from January 1, 1933 to December 31, 1945, in Nazi Germany or in any European country allied with or occupied by Nazi Germany.
Sec. 2. Appropriations and allocations. Resolved: That the following appropriations and allocations are made.

SUMMARY
This amendment replaces the bill with a resolve that directs the Commissioner of Education to expedite the consideration of the instruction in the history of genocide, including the Holocaust, in the next review of the content standards and performance indicators for the content area of social studies under the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 20-A, section 6209, subsection 4. The commissioner also shall develop resources relating to instruction in the history of genocide, including the Holocaust, and make them readily available on the Department of Education's publicly accessible website.
