An Act To Update the Laws Governing Personal Vehicle Rental Coverage
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 24-A MRSA §2927, sub-§1, ¶D, as enacted by PL 1991, c. 335, is amended to read:
D. "Private passenger motor vehicle" means a motor vehicle of the includes a private passenger , sedan, station wagon or private passenger minivan type automobile, a sport utility vehicle, a pickup truck and a van.
SUMMARY
This bill amends the definition of "private passenger motor vehicle" in the laws governing personal automobile insurance and rental vehicle coverage in the Maine Insurance Code. It clarifies that "private passenger motor vehicle" includes a sport utility vehicle, a pickup truck and a van, which are commonly rented vehicles.
