Resolve, Requiring the Department of Education To Report on Issues Relating to Bullying in Schools
Sec. 1. Report. Resolved: That the Department of Education shall report to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over education matters no later than January 15, 2021 on issues relating to bullying in schools including data collection of incidents of bullying, an update on the progress of any work groups or task forces studying issues relating to bullying in schools, including, but not limited to, the bullying law task force, the Children's Cabinet under the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 5, chapter 439 and the trauma informed task force and any data applicable to the State from the Minnesota bullying study. The department shall include in its report any findings, recommendations and suggested legislation, including, but not limited to, issues relating to data collection on incidents of bullying in schools. The joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over education matters may report out a bill on the subject of the report to the First Regular Session of the 130th Legislature.
