This bill
requires the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to study the
establishment of minimum recycled plastic content requirements for single-use
plastic beverage containers and to develop recommendations regarding the
implementation of these requirements. DEP has indicated that it is unable to
complete these directives within existing resources and would need to hire
contracted staffing to complete the study. The bill includes a one-time
appropriation of $40,000 in fiscal year 2020-21 to DEP for contracted
staffing services. |
