The bill creates
a fee of $.25 per marine flare sold in the State and would increase General
Fund revenue by $2,500 in fiscal year 2019-20 and $5,000 in fiscal year
2020-21. It includes a one-time
General Fund appropriation of $43,500 in fiscal year 2019-20 to the
Department of Public Safety for one thermal destruction unit to assist with
safely disposing of expired marine flares.
It also includes a one-time General Fund appropriation of $16,000 in
fiscal year 2019-20 to the Department of Administrative and Financial
Services for computer programming to update the sales tax return. Additional costs to the Department
associated with establishing an education campaign and updating the website
can be absorbed within existing budgeted resources. |
