This bill requires
contractors to require mandatory safety training for all craft workers on
public works construction sites and increases the types of construction
workers needing to be trained. It requires this be done within existing
budgeted resources. The ability of the Department of Labor to conduct
investigations into potential violations of the construction safety training
requirements for craft workers without impacting existing programs and
services cannot be determined at this time. The Department of Transportation
has indicated that the cost of increased training requirements on contractors
could lead to higher construction bids leading to higher construction costs
to the State. The impact on other Department of Administrative and Financial
Services programs and activities as a result of absorbing certain costs
cannot be determined at this time. |
