The Department of
Education estimates that adding career and technical education (CTE) teachers
to the minimum salary requirement for teachers will increase costs to the
General Purpose Aid for Local Schools (GPA) program by $1,700 in fiscal year
2020-21 and $2,193 in fiscal year 2021-22.
This estimate assumes that 2 CTE teachers in fiscal year 2020-21 and 5
CTE teachers in fiscal year 2021-22 will be below the minimum salary
threshold established for that fiscal year and will be eligible to have their
salary raised to the minimum
level. The department has indicated
that the GPA program has sufficient funding to cover the costs of this provision
for both fiscal year 2020-21 and fiscal year 2021-22 and that no additional
General Fund appropriations are required. |
