This bill may
increase the number of civil suits filed in the court system. The additional
workload associated with the minimal number of new cases filed does not
require additional funding at this time. The collection of additional filing
fees will increase General Fund revenue by minor amounts. |

The prohibition
in this bill may increase complaints filed with the Maine Human Rights
Commission and may increase litigation under the Maine Human Rights Act. To the extent complaints increase, the
Commission may incur costs associated with intake and investigation. To the
extent that litigation occurs, the Maine Human Rights Commission, the
Department of Education, the Office of the Attorney General and school
administrative units may incur additional costs for legal and other services. |
