Rep. Tavis Hasenfus is serving his second term in the Maine House of Representatives. He is a member of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee and the Taxation Committee.

Rep. Hasenfus is active in his community, serving as a board member of the Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed and the Winthrop Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce. He has also volunteered as a member of the Winthrop Recreation Committee and as a coach for young athletes of all ages.

A graduate of the University of Maine and the University of Maine School of Law, Rep. Hasenfus is now a general practice attorney in Winthrop. He is a third generation Winthrop High School graduate.

Rep. Hasenfus lives in Readfield, less than a mile from his Winthrop childhood home, with his wife and three children.

Brief description of the subject matter handled by the committee: Bureau of Revenue Services and State Board of Property Tax Review; state and local taxes; tax exemptions and credits; tax expenditure review; taxpayer relief programs; property valuation and assessment; tax increment financing; municipal revenue sharing; taxation of unorganized territories; and tree growth and other current use tax issues.
