§5003. Prohibited acts
1.
Interference with probation.
A person 18 years of age or older is guilty of interference with probation if that person willfully obstructs, intimidates or otherwise abets a probationer under the supervision and control of the department and thereby causes or contributes to causing the probationer to violate the conditions of that person's probation, after having been warned in writing by the commissioner to end that person's relationship or association with the probationer.

Interference with probation is a Class E crime, except that, notwithstanding Title 17-A, it is punished by a fine of not more than $500 or by imprisonment for not more than 11 months, or by both.

This subsection applies to interferences with the probation of probationers who are under the supervision and control of the department at the request of other states under terms of the Interstate Compact for Adult Offender Supervision and the Interstate Compact for Juveniles.

Interference with parole.
A person 18 years of age or older is guilty of interference with parole if that person willfully obstructs, intimidates or otherwise abets a parolee under the supervision and control of the department and thereby causes or contributes to causing the parolee to violate the conditions of parole, after having been warned in writing by the commissioner to end that person's relationship or association with the parolee.

Notwithstanding Title 17-A, section 4-A, interference with parole is punished by a fine of not more than $500 or by imprisonment for not more than 11 months, or by both.
