Representative Don Marean
Rep. Don Marean is serving his fourth consecutive term, his sixth total term in the Maine House of Representatives. He currently serves on the Taxation Committee, previously serving on the Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry committee and the Joint Select Committee on Marijuana Legalization Implementation.
Marean is involved in protecting public lands in Maine. He is previously served as the Chair to the Land for Maine’s Future board. He is a former business owner, operating Standish Hardware & Feed Co. for over 30 years - then selling the business to his employees in 2003.
Marean lives in Hollis with his wife Linda. He has three children, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Rep. Marean serves on the Taxation committee.
Matters That Are Handled By The Committee: Bureau of Revenue Services and State Board of Property Tax Review; state and local taxes; tax exemptions and credits; tax expenditure review; taxpayer relief programs; property valuation and assessment; tax increment financing; municipal revenue sharing; taxation of unorganized territories; and tree growth and other current use tax issues.
