Resolve, to Require the State Sealer to Conduct Spot Checks at Timber Mills
Sec. 1. Spot checks to enhance enforcement of timber measurement standards and record requirements; report. Resolved: That the Director of the Division of Quality Assurance and Regulation within the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources shall establish a pilot project to conduct additional spot checks to sample the accuracy of wood measurement and record keeping in wood transactions. The director shall report to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over agricultural matters no later than February 15, 2001 on the enhanced monitoring of wood measurement. The report must include the number of additional checks conducted with the additional appropriation and an assessment of findings regarding compliance with wood measurement standards and record-keeping requirements; and be it further
Sec. 2. Appropriation. Resolved: That the following funds are appropriated from the General Fund to carry out the purposes of this resolve.
