Sec. F-1. 29-A MRSA §561, as amended by PL 1997, c. 394, Pt. A, §1, is repealed.
Sec. F-2. 29-A MRSA §561-A is enacted to read:
Fines and fees authorized by this subchapter must be deposited with the Treasurer of State and accounted for by the State Controller as undedicated revenue to the Highway Fund.
Sec. F-3. 29-A MRSA §2602, sub-§4, ¶A, as enacted by PL 1997, c. 750, Pt. A, §3, is amended to read:
A. Six percent of fines and forfeitures collected for all traffic infractions, including fines and forfeitures collected for traffic infractions under section 561 561-A, accrues to the Law Enforcement Agency Reimbursement Fund established in Title 4, section 173, subsection 4-B. This paragraph does not apply to sections 525, 1767 and 2363;
Sec. F-4. Transfer of funds. Any unencumbered balance remaining on June 30, 2002 in the Transportation Safety Fund, Other Special Revenue funds account, in the Department of Administrative and Financial Services, the Traffic Safety- Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, Other Special Revenue funds account in the Department of Public Safety and the Motor Vehicle - Single Point of Contact, Other Special Revenue funds account, in the Department of the Secretary of State must be transferred by the State Controller at the close of this fiscal year to the unallocated surplus of the Highway Fund.
