Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §956, sub-§2, as enacted by PL 1993, c. 683, Pt. A, §2 and affected by Pt. B, §5, is amended to read:

2. Inspection. The records, vehicles and vehicle parts in the dealer's possession must be available for inspection during the dealer's normal business hours by the Secretary of State, law enforcement officers or representatives of the office of the Attorney General. The State may not charge the dealer a fee for this inspection or require reimbursement for any expense incurred by the State in conducting this inspection.

SUMMARY

This bill eliminates any fee charged an automobile dealer by the State to inspect the dealer's records.
