Sec. 1. Use of Reid vapor pressure/low-sulfur fuel. Resolved: That, by January
1, 2000, the Board of Environmental Protection shall adopt rules
that require all gasoline that is distributed or marketed between
May 1st and September 15th of each year by bulk gasoline
terminals or is directly imported to gasoline service stations or
bulk gasoline plants between May 1st and September 15th of each
year in this State be low-sulfur fuel, free of methyl tertiary-
butyl ether, and have a Reid vapor pressure measure of no greater
than 7.8 pounds per square inch. Rules adopted pursuant to this
resolve are major substantive rules as defined in the Maine
Revised Statutes, Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter II-A.

 
SUMMARY

 
This resolve requires the Board of Environmental Protection to
adopt rules requiring the use of low-sulfur fuel with a Reid
vapor pressure measure of not greater than 7.8 pounds per square
inch between May 1st and September 15th in the entire State. The
fuel may not contain MTBE.
