Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 12 MRSA c. 707, sub-c. IV-B is enacted to read:

 
SUBCHAPTER IV-B

 
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES

 
§7166.__Recreational activities

 
1.__Recreational activities.__A resident or nonresident shall
obtain a recreational license pursuant to this section if the
person engages in the following recreational activities:

 
A.__Hiking;

 
B.__Canoeing;

 
C.__Kayaking; or

 
D.__Off-road bicycling.

 
2.__Recreational license; fees.__The commissioner shall issue
a recreational license to a resident or nonresident pursuant to
the schedule of fees as follows:

 
A.__Resident junior recreational license, under 16 years of
age, $5;

 
B.__Resident recreational license, 16 years of age or older,
$15;

 
C.__Nonresident junior recreational license, under 16 years
of age, $20; and

 
D.__Nonresident recreational license, 16 years of age or
older, $48.

 
A license issued pursuant to this subsection expires one year
after the date of issue.

 
3.__Exemptions.__The following are exempt from the
requirements of this section:

 
A.__A person who is hiking, canoeing, kayaking or off-road
bicycling on property owned by the person or by the person's
immediate family.__"Immediate family" has the same meaning
as defined in Title 17-A, section 210-A;
