§9419.__Interoperability

 
A governmental agency of the State that adopts standards
pursuant to section 9418 may encourage and promote consistency
and interoperability with similar requirements adopted by other
governmental agencies of this State and other states and the
Federal Government and nongovernmental persons interacting with
governmental agencies of the State.__If appropriate, those
standards may specify differing levels of standards from which
governmental agencies of the State may choose in implementing the
most appropriate standard for a particular application.

MAINE DIGITAL SIGNATURE ACT

 
§9501. Short title

 
This chapter may be known and cited as the "Maine Digital
Signature Act."

 
§9502.__Definitions

 
As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise
indicates, the following terms have the following meanings.

 
1.__Digital signature.__"Digital signature" means a computer-
created electronic signature that:

 
A.__Is intended by the person using it to have the same
force and effect as the use of a manual signature;

 
B.__Is unique to the person using it;

 
C.__Is capable of verification;

 
D.__Is under the sole control of the person using it; and

 
E.__Is linked to data in such a manner that it is
invalidated if the data are changed.

 
2.__Electronic signature.__"Electronic signature" has the same
meaning as used in chapter 1051.
