APPROPRIATIONS/ALLOCATIONS

General Fund $1,989,820

This bill includes a General Fund appropriation of $20,000 in fiscal year 2000-01 for the newly established Maine Fire Protection Services Commission to provide the commission with initial operating funds. This bill also includes a General Fund appropriation of $30,000 in fiscal year 2000-01 for the commission to contract for certain actuarial and other planning services.

This bill includes a General Fund appropriation of $166,468 in fiscal year 2000-01 for the Office of the Fire Marshal within the Department of Public Safety to provide funds for 3 additional Fire Inspector positions and a half-time Clerk Typist II position for the purposes of conducting mandatory inspections of facilities that provide services to children.

This bill also includes a General Fund appropriation of $150,000 in fiscal year 2000-01 for the Department of Public Safety to provide initial funding for a death benefit for firefighters and emergency medical services persons who die in the line of duty.

This bill includes a General Fund appropriation of $1,200,000 in fiscal year 2000-01 for the Maine Technical College System to provide initial funding for the Maine Firefighter Training Fund.

This bill also includes a General Fund appropriation of $96,850 in fiscal year 2000-01 for the Maine Technical College System to provide funds for one Grant Fund Manager position and a Clerk Typist position to be established by the Maine Fire Training and Education Program to administer the Maine Firefighter Training Fund.
