Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §6960 is enacted to read:

§6960.__Use of gill nets

Notwithstanding section 6553-A, a person may not use a gill net in the State's tidal waters unless the gill net is tended continuously, is hauled back and emptied at least once every 2 hours and is affixed with a floating marker that includes the name and address of the owner of the net.

SUMMARY

This bill places certain restrictions on the use of gill nets in Maine's tidal waters.
