Sec. 1. Reduction of unnecessary paperwork. Resolved: That the Department
of Administrative and Financial Services, Bureau of Revenue
Services shall study methods for decreasing the amount of
duplicative paperwork and information that must be provided by
businesses in this State, including, but not limited to, filings
required for income and unemployment taxes and information
required by the Department of Human Services. The bureau shall
submit its report along with any implementing legislation to the
joint standing committees of the Legislature having jurisdiction
over business and economic development matters and taxation
matters by January 3, 2003. The joint standing committees of the
Legislature having jurisdiction over business and economic
development matters and taxation matters each may report out a
bill to the First Regular Session of the 121st Legislature.

 
SUMMARY

 
This resolve directs the Department of Administrative and
Financial Services, Bureau of Revenue Services to determine ways
to reduce duplicative filings that are required of businesses in
Maine and to report its findings to the 121st Legislature.
