GENERAL PROVISIONS

§101.__Definitions

As used in this Title, unless the context otherwise indicates, the following terms have the following meanings.

1.__Commissioner.__"Commissioner" means the Commissioner of Health and Human Services.

2.__Department.__"Department" means the Department of Health and Human Services.

3.__Seal.__The department has an official seal which must be judicially noticed.

§201.__Department established

1.__Establishment.__The Department of Health and Human Services is established as a cabinet-level department.

2.__Bureau and divisions.__The department consists of the bureaus and divisions necessary to carry out the work of the department.

§202.__Mission; guiding principles

1.__Mission.__The mission of the department is to provide health and human services to the people of Maine so that all persons may achieve and maintain their optimal level of health and their full potential for economic independence and personal development.
