| | | Sec. 1. 26 MRSA §621-A, sub-§5 is enacted to read: |

Volunteer firefighters.__Notwithstanding subsection 1, a | | municipal fire department may make payments owed to a volunteer | | firefighter on a semiannual basis.__For purposes of this | | subsection, "municipal fire department" has the same meaning as | | in Title 30-A, section 3151, subsection 1 and "volunteer | | firefighter" has the same meaning as in Title 30-A, section 3151, | | subsection 4. |

| | | This bill allows a municipal fire department to pay volunteer | | firefighters on a semiannual basis, instead of at least every 16 | | days as required by current law. |
