Sec. XX-3. 20-A MRSA §4772, sub-§6 is enacted to read:

 
6.__Recommendation.__The student has received a recommendation
to take a postsecondary course or courses at an eligible
institution from the student's school administration or one of
the student's secondary school teachers following an assessment
of the student by the school administration.

 
Sec. XX-4. 20-A MRSA §4772-A, sub-§2, as enacted by PL 1999, c. 495,
§1, is amended to read:

 
2. Recommendation. Has received a recommendation to take a
postsecondary course or courses at an eligible institution from
the student's school administration or from a teacher at the
student's school following an assessment of the student by the
school administration; and

 
Sec. XX-5. 20-A MRSA §15689-A, sub-§11 is enacted to read:

 
11.__Courses for credit at eligible postsecondary
institutions.__The commissioner may pay costs for secondary
students to take postsecondary courses at eligible institutions.

Sec. YY-1. PL 2001, c. 559, Pt. D, §21 is amended to read:

 
*Sec. D-21. Lease purchase authorization. Pursuant to the Maine Revised
Statutes, Title 5, section 1587, the Department of Administrative
and Financial Services on behalf of the Department of Education
may enter into financing arrangements in fiscal years 2001-02 and
2002-03 for the acquisition of laptop computer systems to support
the operations of the Maine Learning Technology Program. The
financing agreements may not exceed 4-1/2 years in duration and
$22,323,279.08 $25,509,377.81 in principal costs. The interest
rate may not exceed 4.5% and the total interest costs may not
exceed $2,546,720.92 $2,856,720.02. The annual principal and
interest costs must be paid from the appropriate line category
allocations in the Department of Education.
