authority to individuals who meet the eligibility requirements of
subsection 3.__Interest earned on amounts in the fund may be used
for the costs of administering the scholarships.

 
3.__Eligibility.__To be eligible for a scholarship under the
program an individual must:

 
A.__Be employed as a child care worker for at least 32 hours
a week in a child care facility licensed by the State;

 
B.__Enroll in a course related to early childhood education
offered by an accredited college or university; and

 
C.__Agree to remain employed in child care for at least one
year following receipt of the scholarship.

 
4.__Rules.__The authority shall adopt rules for determining
further eligibility requirements, application procedures, terms
and conditions for the scholarships.__Rules adopted pursuant to
this section are routine technical rules as defined Title 5,
chapter 375, subchapter II-A.

 
Sec. 5. Appropriation. The following funds are appropriated from the
General Fund to carry out the purposes of this Act.

SUMMARY

 
The bill establishes the Child Care Education Scholarship
Program to provide scholarships to child care workers who take
courses related to early childhood education or child care from
an accredited college or university. The bill makes General Fund
appropriations to the Child Care Education Scholarship Fund to be
