12.__Report.__To report annually by December 15th to the Legislature on the implementation of this chapter.

§2434.__Chief executive officer

The chief executive officer of the authority is appointed by the Governor, subject to review by the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over education matters and confirmation by the Legislature and serves at the pleasure of the Governor.__The chief executive officer is responsible for supervising and directing the administrative and technical activities of the authority on a day-to-day basis.

1.__Staff.__The chief executive officer shall hire sufficient staff to operate the authority according to a staffing pattern prescribed in the charter school plan.

SUMMARY

This bill establishes the Charter School Authority to oversee the establishment, location and funding of charter schools throughout the State; to adopt a comprehensive charter school plan; to provide technical assistance for groups wishing to start a charter school; and to allocate funds for the creation of charter schools consistent with the plan.
