What is Maine's Law on Living Wills
According to Legal Services for Maine Elders’ Elder Rights Handbook, “Advance directives are sometimes called Living Wills or Durable Health Care Powers of Attorney.” Title 18-C, Article 5, Part 8 of the Maine Revised Statutes addresses advance health care directives. 18-C MRS §5-805 states, in part, “The following form may, but need not, be used to create an advance health care directive. The other sections of this Part govern the effect of this or any other writing used to create an advance health care directive. An individual with capacity may complete or modify all or any part of the following form.”
